The Last Sip
Q: Fun facts we would never know about you?
As to whether or not they will be hosting another one, the long term plan is yes but for now they are coming back to their main focus – the podcast.
They both love “teletrash” – no throwing shame!
You made it through the whole edition and here you are on the last page – Congrats (sorry no prizes)…
I do hope you enjoyed this edition and read it from cover to cover.
Chelsey: “I fall asleep to True Crime and I don’t why exactly. I’m not plotting anything but I am receiving tips on what not to do through osmosis so, just in case, I’ll be ready for anything. I know that sounds dark but hey that’s just me”. Pamela: “I just love the romance, the reality TV or game shows. The one I’m watching now is Love is Blind”. (I checked in out – It’s a reality program that promotes itself as a social experiment where people are looking for love and get engaged, all before actually meeting in person). Q: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened during a podcast? Pamela: “The podcast where we started discussing Kelpies. One of the stories I was telling was about how the sea creature can turn into a very attractive man and when they touch him, he’s very sticky. When we listened to the finished recording we felt like it sounded so inappropriate that we thought to ourselves, people are going to wonder what we were on!” Chelsey records in a wine cellar of an empty whisky bar. So at that time, what was supposed to be spooky and scary turned into Pam describing this half man/half horse creature in a very sexy way. So much of it was unusable that the editing to that episode was colossal. Another interesting aspect is doing the podcast live because you never know who might end up on the couch having a discussion. Pam may have been a bouncer during that particular season 3 episode!? Q: I asked them what made their inaugural 2023 Street Spirit Fest so successful and if they thought they would do it again? In July of last year, Dram Fine hosted the first ever Street Spirits Festival in Edmonton Alberta. It was the culmination of a 2020 goal = Create a young and fresh festival that not only makes whisky accessible but also breaks down barriers. The sold out event featured an MC, big brand presentations, a lounge area, a DJ and an incredible drag show which was a huge hit with the crowd. The feedback was incredible as patrons declared it a breathe of fresh air and the next generation of what whisky festivals should be.
Q: Let’s chat about season 4
I raise my whisky sour cocktail (it truly is one of my favourites this time of year, and as always, glass, and the very last sip to all of you.
This upcoming season will be a combination of exciting guests, learning opportunities, some possible controversial discussions and deep dives sectioned into mini series type podcasts that you simply can’t miss. Mum’s the word on who or what will appear! This podcast is about two people coming together on a regular basis to discuss this fascinating subject. It’s passionate with a backdrop of science, but it is also about the stories we share, the people we connect with and the uncomplicated way we can all enjoy a conversation about whisky. That’s exactly what they do best and as a result, whisky enthusiasts who downright relate are tuning into the #1 whisky podcast in Canada. In closing, I want to add that during our conversation Pamela stated she and Chelsey may come at the subject from different angles but they really do complement each other and let’s face it = two complementary angles always add up to a right angle.
When Mike and I sit down to talk about articles and direction of an edition, it’s mostly concepts or what some of our writers come to us with for ideas. This edition is dedicated to summer and everything we love about it. Our writers were very quick to provide us with some of their favourite things, places and memories.
Happy summer days my whisky friends!
