Specialized programs Early Autism Evaluation Hub This statewide network trains and sponsors primary care clinicians to deliver evaluations of young children ages 14 to 48 months. With less wait time for evaluations, children receive their diagnoses at younger ages. In 2024, 22 primary care physicians in multiple health systems evaluated more than 1,400 children at risk for autism, with less than a 3-month wait (average age of evaluation: 31 months). Center for Youth and Adults with Conditions of Childhood Serving more than 300 youth annually, a transdisciplinary team delivers consults for youth ages 11 to 22 whose needs exceed the scope of their current teams. Care focuses on optimizing health and wellness, healthcare delivery, and whole-life needs. The center trains healthcare professionals and teams across Indiana and nationally in the implementation of the key elements to improve the transition from pediatric to adult care.

behavioral health services into pediatric and family medicine practices to address issues such as anxiety, depression and misbehavior in children and adolescents, ages 5 to 17. In 2024, an additional 17 sites were added, bringing the total number of sites to 19. Using an evidence-based behavioral health intervention called FIRST, counselors at primary care practices at the 19 sites in the IU Health system facilitated 1,916 visits, with 1,224 children referred for care. After onboarding at least 12 sites in 2025, the program will serve 70% of the pediatric primary care population at Riley Children’s and IU Health. Indiana Complex Care Coordination Collaborative In 2024, this program expanded to eight health systems across Indiana to deliver comprehensive care coordination to more than 900 children with medical complexity and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Nurses receive training to maximize service delivery to up to 100 patients per nurse. Primary care teams participate in continuing education and maintenance of certification programs to improve skills in both chronic care management and general care for those with disabilities.
