Entry requirements: First or high 2:i (or international equivalent) at Undergraduate level. Strong mathematic and statistics, or econometrics ability essential, with Undergraduate studies containing substantial elements of accounting and finance, as well as some quantitative modules and microeconomics. If English is not your first language, please note that you must meet a minimum overall standard in a recognised test of English. Why MSc Accounting & Finance? Use your quantitative skills to develop a more critical understanding of the world of accounting, whilst exploring the most current theories and cutting-edge techniques in finance. This course is designed to show how accounting and reporting decisions affect markets and companies, and help you to view accounting in its wider context, enabling you to step into a wide range of financial and accounting careers in an international environment. Finance modules are taken from our highly-ranked MSc Finance, one of the UK’s top finance courses*. *The Financial Times ranks our MSc Finance 12th in the world and 3rd in the UK in their Masters in Finance Pre-experience ranking 2022. Assessment and modules Over three terms you will complete six compulsory modules, and two optional modules of your choice, one of which must be from Accounting. Assessment of these modules will vary, and you could be assessed by group work, project work, or examination. Your studies will be completed by your dissertation, giving you the opportunity to develop, test, practise, and apply the techniques and theories you have gained through your studies. International opportunities with the QTEM Masters Network Program During your MSc year you can apply to the Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (QTEM) Masters Network Program. If accepted, you will study at your choice of either one or two of the QTEM Masters Network academic partners from across Europe, Asia, and Australia, alongside completing an internship and a collaborative Global Business Analytics Challenge. The learning offered by the QTEM Masters Network Program will ensure that you develop your skills in analytical and quantitative techniques, and learn to use those skills to support decision-making in international contexts.
