Adverbial phrases
Adverbial phrases are groups of words which tell us more about verbs: The animals danced all through the night . ‘All through the night’ is an adverbial phrase telling us when the animals danced.
4 Identify the adverbial phrases in the following sentences. 1 The party will start in about an hour. 2 It will go on until late at night. 3 The band played extremely loudly. 4 We were allowed to stay up much later than usual. 5 Mom and her friends danced surprisingly well. 6 We cleared up as quickly as possible after the party.
