Writing: project Work in groups to plan a class activity which helps to protect the environment. 1  Decide what the purpose of the activity will be, for example: • A clean-up day at school • Create a school garden • A beach clean-up • Planting trees 2 Plan your activity. 3  Prepare a project plan. Use the notes you made in the web to help you write your plan. Remember: • When you plan a class activity, you should show your plans to your teacher. • If your activity involves the whole school, you need to ask your school principal for permission. 4  Make a list of the tasks you need to do. Each group member selects a task.

Prepare publicity about your activity. You need to tell the other students in your class what you plan to do, and persuade them to take part.

• Prepare leaflets and posters • Give a short presentation Think of creative ways of presenting your activity, such as a rap or a radio announcement. 6  Collect all the material you prepared for your project in a folder. Prepare a cover page and a list of contents, and give your project to your teacher.

Request help, e.g. students, teachers, parents

• Remind students to observe the guidelines for group work outlined in Unit 2. They should choose a chairman to manage the group and ensure that each group member has the opportunity to contribute. The group secretary records any decisions taken. DA  Students can contribute to the project according to their different skills and abilities.
