Some words are made up of different parts, e.g. refresh playing
prefix root word suffix
refresh: -ing The root word is the basic word. We can change its meaning by adding prefixes and suffixes. re- fresh playing: play

is difficult and that the other students are unfriendly. Write a letter advising your cousin what to do. 1 Plan your letter. Remember to: • thank your cousin for the letter • say that you are sorry to hear about the problem • write some advice about how to deal with the problem. 2 Write a rough draft of your letter . Use the checklist below to revise your work.
