1 Which of the following sentences are active? Which are passive? The passive voice can be used in the present, past and future tenses: Our students are excluded from this world of information. (present) Our students will be excluded . (future) Our students were excluded . (past) Note: All passive forms are made up of the ver b be + past participle.
2 These sentences are in the passive voice. Rewite them in the active voice. Example: They were asked to leave by the teacher. è The teacher asked them to leave.
1 The science books are often borrowed by students. 2 That book was returned by my sister last week. 3 The new library will be opened by the prime minister. 4 The books were arranged by the assistant in alphabetical order. 5 The class was asked by the teacher not to talk in the library.
6 Our books were stamped by the librarian. 7 Internet access is monitored by the school. 8 Online content is filtered by a software program.
