Whose and who’s
Who: “ The students gave the best presentation. They won a prize.” è “ The group who gave the best presentation won a prize.” Who is the subject of the verb gave . Whose: “The group’s presentation was best. They won a prize.” è “ The group whose presentation was best won a prize.” Whose shows ownership. 3 Complete each sentence using who’s or whose. • Draw attention to the fact that ‘whom’ comes after prepositions such as ‘to’, ‘for’ and ‘with’. You may want to explain that ‘who’ is a subject pronoun and ‘whom’ is an object pronoun.
