Questions 41–45: READING Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow. Mom hardly gave Darin time to get through the front door before she exploded. “Your room’s a tip!” she said. “We tidied it yesterday and now it looks like a bomb’s hit it.” Darin didn’t wait to hear more. He lay there, rigid, listening to his heart thumping in the dark. 15 Long after Mom and Dad had gone to bed, he heard it. A sort of whistling sound – like someone snoring with his mouth open. He had heard it before; always after something odd had happened during the day. The whistling grew louder and Darin tightened his grip on the torch. He shuffled towards the edge of the bed, hurled himself to the floor and shone the torch under 20 the bed. There it was, crouching in a corner. A goblin !
