Portfolio
Your writing portfolio is a collection of different types of text and of different stages in the writing process.
Write a list of the types of text you could include in your writing portfolio.
You should write a short reflection on each piece of work you place in your portfolio.
Choose a piece of work you wrote recently. Read it carefully then write a short reflection on it. Ask yourself:
• What did I find easy? • What did I find difficult? • What helped me most?
• What could I have done better? • Which part do I like best and why? Journal
Write in your journal regularly: • record your experiences and thoughts • respond to stories and books you read • reflect on what you have learnt and achieved • reflect on what you could do better Respond to one of these questions in your journal. Brainstorm your thoughts then decide what to write. You can write a poem or a report or a story.

What would be your dream day out?

• Make time weekly for students to write in their journals. • Have students use their journals to reflect on their learning. After reading, viewing or listening they may complete these statements. • What I found most interesting was… A question I still have is… What I found out that I did not know before is… What I liked/disliked about the story was… The part I liked best was….
