A descriptive text describes places , objects or scenes and creates a picture in the mind of the reader. To do this, the writer uses words and phrases which appeal to the senses. Good descriptive writing also uses figurative language such as simile and metaphor.

Language: review of tenses Simple past tense
We use the simple past tense for actions which were completed in the past. We usually add ‘ d ’ or ‘ ed ’ to the root verb: gaze è She gazed at the lizard. For verbs ending in a vowel + consonant, double the consonant and add ‘ ed ’: drop è dropped For verbs ending in ‘ y ’, change ‘ y ’ to ‘ i ’ and add ‘ ed ’: carry è carried Many verbs are irregular and form their past tense in a different way.
