Some words are easily confused. For example: affect (verb) – to change è Global warming affects animals. effect (noun) – the result of something è Global warming has an effect on animals.

spelt tricky words correctly? used capital letters, full stops and commas? checked that the verb always agrees with the subject?
DA Some students can go on to write a complete story. Remind them to brainstorm ideas for the problem, climax and resolution of their story. CR Written work should always be in Standard English unless otherwise permitted by the teacher. One exception may be the use of direct speech in a story. • Portfolio: Students’ portfolios can include drafts showing evidence of revision and editing together with a final draft.
