2 Write your own sentences using the words sometimes, often, usually, always, never. Example: I usually walk to school with my sister.
Some adverbs tell us how an action is done. The turtles crawl slowly up the beach. Slowly describes how the turtles crawl. We add ‘ ly ’ to most adjectives to make adverbs.

• Adverbs which tell us how actions are done are adverbs of manner . • Exercise 3: Put students in pairs to make sentences using the adverbs they have made, e.g. Tom can run quickly. • Exercise 5: Tell students to use adverbs from this page. Accept ‘ fast ’ as an answer to question 3.
