Choose the topic for your project. Brainstorm animals, birds or sea creatures. Make a list. Each member of the group chooses ONE species from your list. 2 Find out as much as you can about the species you chose. You could • Look on the internet • Look in an encyclopaedia • Ask your teacher or a librarian 3 Record the information you find under the headings below. 4 Give a short presentation to your group about the species you chose.
5 Write a paragraph about the species you chose. Use the information in your table. Remember to write a topic sentence. Example: Dolphins are large sea creatures. 6 Proofread your paragraph. Write a neat

Complete your group project. Put the paragraphs written by each group member together. Prepare a title page with the name of your project. Give your project to your teacher. • Group work: Remind students how to conduct group work, e.g. listening to others, not interrupting. ICT If possible, take students to the computer room and help them find information for their project online. Alternatively, demonstrate finding information online in your classroom. DA Students could work in mixed ability pairs to research their species and write their paragraphs. NOTE: A sample expository composition can be found on page 141.
