Possessive nouns

We use ’s to show that something belongs to someone. My brother’s room. Shelly’s computer.

When the noun is plural or ends in ‘s’, we usually add ’ only. the girls’ speech Mr. Jones’ car

• Explain that for words like ‘men’, ‘ women’, ‘ children’, we add ’s, e.g. the children’s parents . DA Allow some students to write answers to fewer questions according to ability. CR  Possessives are sometimes used differently in Creole. Make sentences in Creole and Standard English using possessive nouns for students to compare.
