The Missing Cake Characters: Daniel Joel KELLIe MOmmy Grandma Scene 1: the family kitchen, Saturday morning MOMMY: I’m making a cake for your birthday tomorrow, Daniel. Would you like to help me? DANIEL: Yes, Mommy. What can I do? MOMMY: I’m mixing the butter and the sugar. Now
we need some eggs. You can break them into this bowl. DANIEL: ( breaking the eggs over a bowl ) Is this right, Mommy? MOMMY: Yes, that’s right. Now beat the eggs with this fork. DANIEL: ( beating the eggs ) What shall I do next? MOMMY: Pour the eggs onto the butter and sugar. I’ll add the flour. DANIEL: When will the cake be ready? MOMMY: I have to bake it first. We can ice it this evening after Kellie and Joel have gone to bed. Scene 2: the kitchen, early Sunday morning KELLIE: Shall we look at Daniel’s cake? JOEL: Good idea! Let’s look in the fridge.
