Kitten in the Tree Tanice always wanted to have a pet. When she was eight, Grandma gave her a sweet little kitten for her birthday. Tanice loved the kitten. She often played with it in the garden. Tanice’s brother, Ricardo, liked playing tricks. One day he chased the kitten up a tree. The kitten was scared. It did not want to come down. Tanice stood under the tree. She called the kitten, but it climbed further up the tree. The children called Daddy. He got a ladder and put it against the tree. He climbed up the ladder, but he could not catch the kitten. Then Tanice had an idea. She fetched a bowl of milk and put it under the tree. The kitten loved milk. It jumped onto Daddy’s shoulder, and Daddy climbed down the ladder with it. Soon the kitten was drinking the milk greedily. Tanice sat and watched it, but Ricardo was hiding.
