Title

The Anansi Stories This story is about Anansi and Tiger. It takes place in the forest a long time ago. Anansi is jealous of Tiger because the stories the animals tell are called the Tiger Stories. Anansi wants the stories for himself. Tiger promises that Anansi can have the stories if he brings Snake to him alive. Anansi plays a trick on Snake and ties him to a bamboo branch. Tiger is very surprised when the little spider brings him Snake, but he keeps his promise. The best part of the story is when Tiger gives the stories to Anansi. Tiger did not expect Anansi to bring him Snake alive. I liked the story because Anansi is very clever. He is much smaller than Snake, but he gets him to do what he wants.

Why I liked story

• Discuss why people write book reports, e.g. to get other people to read the books . • Point out that book reports are written in the present tense. Emphasise that students do not need to retell the whole story. • Students can keep their book reports in a reading journal. DA Some students can write notes, as in the example at the top of the page, according to ability.
