Answer the questions. What ingredients do you need to make mango juice? What kitchen equipment do you need? What should you do before you prepare the juice? Why? Why should you ask a grown-up to help you cut the mangoes? Tell a friend how to make mango juice. Give clear instructions in the right order. Use sequencing words, e.g. first , next to link your instructions.

How to make a banana sandwich

1 Read the instructions. They have been written in the wrong order. 2 Put the instructions in the right order.

• Put the slices of bread together to make a sandwich. • Spread a thick layer of banana paste on one slice. • Crush the banana pieces with a fork to make a paste. • Peel a banana and cut it into small pieces. • Spread some butter on two slices of bread. • Add a little sugar to the paste and stir with a spoon.

• Instructions: Read aloud from Listening Texts page 147. Remind students that they should ask a grown-up to help them if they need to use a sharp knife. • After students complete Exercise 3, ask them to give their own instructions for a simple task, e.g. washing the dishes, making their bed.  DA Reading: Exercise 2, some students may need help in reading the instructions for making a sandwich.
