Unit 12 All’s Well That Ends Well
Let’s talk What should you remember to do when you cross a road? Which other road safety rules do you know? Reading
All’s Well That Ends Well Greg was only five years old. His mother did not let him go out on his own. When he went to play with his friend, Terry, his mother always went with him. “It’s too dangerous,” she
told him. “Many children are injured crossing the road. You could get killed.” One day Greg’s mother was too busy to take him to see his friend. She told him to stay in the house and play with his toys. Greg played with his toy truck, but before long he felt bored. The front door was open so he went out into the yard. “I know the way to Terry’s house,” he thought. “I’ll go there on my own.” So Greg set off down the road by himself. He walked past the church and the library and came to the main road. He checked to see if any cars were coming. Then he crossed safely. “This is easy,” Greg said to himself. He went on towards Terry’s house. He saw two older boys on the other side of the road playing marbles. Greg loved playing marbles.
