Cats
I like all cats! Big cats, small cats Thin cats, fat cats These are just a few. Smooth cats, furry cats Bald cats, hairy cats Black cats, white cats Grey cats too.
• Read the poem all the way through to the class, emphasising the rhythm and rhyme. Ask pupils how many verses there are. • Read the first two verses again, telling pupils to point to the words as you say them. Then ask the first set of questions. • Ask pupils how many verses there are in the poem. 1 How many lines are there in each verse? 2 Match the pictures to some of the cats in the poem. 3 What cats does the poet like? a) most cats b) only big cats c) all cats
