• Listen up! Read aloud the dialogue from Listening Texts on page 124. • Tell pupils that when we tell someone what to do, we are giving instructions . • Reading: Ask why they think the instructions in the recipe are numbered. ( So that we know in what order to do things. ) • Extension: Ask what they notice about the position of the verb in each sentence. ( It is at the beginning. ) • Draw attention to the headings ‘What you need’, ‘What to do’ which are common features of instructions.
