Language: ‘wh’ questions
Lots of questions begin with these words:
Who? What? Where? When? Who cooks at home? What do you need to make pancakes?
1 Make up three questions about this picture. Begin each question with one of these words: Who…? What…? Where…?
Example: Who is cooking?
the boy doing? reading? the boy? cooking?

2 Write the answer to
each of your questions.
DA Some pupils can work with the teacher to ask and answer questions orally. Alternatively pupils can work in mixed ability pairs and write their answers. • Extension: Ask pupils to make up another ‘ wh ’ question about the picture. If necessary they can make up an answer. ( E.g What is the boy’s name? The boy’s name is xxx. )
