• Discuss with pupils how the form of their writing (what it looks like, what features it has) depends on the purpose of the writing (why they are writing it). For example, instructions usually have numbered points but stories (whose purpose is to entertain the reader) do not. • Remind pupils to check their writing. Put a short list of questions on the wall to encourage pupils to revise what they have written. ( Do my sentences make sense? Can I change anything to make it better? Have I used a full stop and a capital letter? ) • For more work on writing instructions, see Workbook 1 page 143 .
