Writing 1 Think of a time you went shopping. Tell your partner. • Who were you with? • What happened? 2 Draw a picture. 3 Write the story of what happened. I went to buy shoes. I helped Mommy at the check-out.

• Word work: Write the words pat, patting, hug, hugging on the board then clap the beats in each word. Tell pupils that each beat is a syllable. • Help pupils to see that breaking a word into syllables will help them with their spelling. • Writing: Pupils write an account of a personal experience . To help generate ideas, discuss the topic as a class or in groups first.
