Agoutis Agoutis look like big, brown rats. They have small tails.

Agoutis live in the forest. They eat fruit and nuts. They have sharp teeth to crack the nuts. 1 What colour are agoutis? 2 Where do agoutis live? 3 What do agoutis eat?

• Listen up! Read the listening text from pages 124–125. Ask pupils to tell you what a fact is (information that is true). • Ask pupils what they notice about the picture on this page. ( It is a photograph. ) • Reading: Ask what the main idea of the first two lines is ( what an agouti looks like ). Help pupils to identify the main idea of other factual ( expository ) paragraphs. ICT Show a YouTube documentary about agoutis to the class. Pause regularly and ask pupils to summarise what they have seen and learnt.
