WELTERWEIGHT: The megafight of the month delivered exactly what it promised, as Price held on to her Ring belt with a magnificent display of talent. Jonas was as game as ever, but age is starting to show on her, and with Mayer-Sandy Ryan 2 already on the horizon, it’s time to start dropping her to a more realistic position, currently set at No. 2. Jessica McCaskill, who is now retired, was removed from the list, and after careful consideration, Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Piñeiro Aquino was picked to enter
Fernandez surged toward the end to leave a fantastic impression that earned her a return to the ratings, where she now sits at No. 5 at the expense of Yoshida, who was thus bumped out. JUNIOR FLYWEIGHT: Four fantastic fighters saw action during this period. Evelin Bermudez had one of the best nights of her life against a legend in Tenkai Tsunami. It took Bermudez’s insane athleticism and accuracy to save the day for her, especially as she held off Tsunami’s late rally, and remain rated at No. 1. On the same card, former flyweight Ring champ Gabriela Alaniz was her usual aggressive self against Graciela Cortes. Alaniz took a few rounds to shake off the rust but seemed strong and fast in her new division (she had never fought at 108 before), looking very much like a contender in this super-competitive weight class. Alaniz took the No. 5 position from Anabel Ortiz, who moved down to 105 pounds, and claims she will remain at 108 from now on. Sara Bailey (No. 3 last month) scored a dominant win at home against a subpar opponent, but that effort paled in comparison to that of No. 4-rated Lourdes Juarez, who at 38 years old scored a stoppage against Mirna Sanchez with a belt at stake. Juarez and Bailey switched places. STRAWWEIGHT: The Sol Cudos-Sol Baumstarh title fight for all the marbles and neighborhood bragging rights had to be suspended in Argentina when Baumstarh showed up at the weigh-in with a bad case of sinusitis, but the clash will take place soon. They better hurry, because formerly rated American contender Yadira Bustillos is putting them on notice after her dominant win over Argentina’s Tamara Demarco via TKO. And to make matters more interesting, two top-rated fighters dropped down to 105 and put on a terrific performance as former junior flyweight titleholder Kim Clavel and perennial multi-titleholder Anabel Ortiz engaged in a war from bell to bell, with Clavel winning by UD. This was Clavel’s debut at the weight and Ortiz’s return after a long time, so if their intentions to remain at strawweight are serious, they will most likely enter the ratings after their next outings.
Raven Chapman in a fight for neighborhood bragging rights between two tough and skilled British contenders. Chapman, who lost to No. 1-rated Skye Nicolson in her previous fight, was replaced at No. 5 by Artingstall. JUNIOR FEATHERWEIGHT: Germany’s Phannarai Netisri continues to make waves in the division, and this time she remained unbeaten against Milena Koleva in what could be her last fight in the minor leagues. No rating for now, but she’s one of the young talents to watch in this division.

at No. 5 to fill the void. Also, as a result of Lauren Price’s rise to the championship level, Michaela Kotaskova crashed the party, entering at No. 4.

JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT: With the entire division invested in the Katie Taylor sweepstakes, rated fighters are carefully measuring their actions as they wait for the legendary Irish fighter to complete her trilogy with Amanda Serrano on July 11. One of the candidates to take on Taylor eventually is Samantha Worthington, who scored a win over Lithuania’s Vaida Masiokaite that failed to convince the panel to move her past our current No. 1, Chantelle Cameron. LIGHTWEIGHT: Dubois’ solid victory over Shin helped the Londoner hold on to her No. 1 position and made the case for an urgent Ring title fight for her as well. Shin gave a good account of herself, and since this is her second fight above 130 (third in her last four) she entered the ratings at No. 5 at the expense of Uruguay’s Maira Moneo. JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT: Shin’s new rating at 135 created a vacancy at 130 that was swiftly filled by France’s Rima Ayadi, an unbeaten challenger who seems committed to the division as her fellow fighters insist on moving up or down with dizzying speed. FEATHERWEIGHT: Karriss Artingstall, a talented young gun, was clamoring for wider recognition and finally got it with a win over
a war against Japan’s Terumi Nuki.
