5 Tell your partner one thing that was good about their instructions and one way in which they could be improved. Language Command words
The command form of the verb is used to give instructions. In these sentences, Mix and Bake are command words . They are also called imperatives . Mix the coconut milk. Bake for 2 hours.
• Speaking and listening: Prepare for Exercises 3 and 4 by working as a class. Ask students to give directions to another class or to the washroom. Together, work out the best way to give these directions. • Read aloud the instructions from Listening Texts page 164. Ask students to use a finger on the map to follow your directions. CR Students may give directions informally in Creole and then formally in Standard English.
