Plan an event in aid of a good cause. Discuss these questions and make notes. 1 What good cause would you like to raise money for? 2 What event would you hold?
3 Where would you hold your event? 4 When will the event take place? 5 How would you tell people about it?

Make a presentation to the class. 1 Rewrite your notes, choosing only the most important. Your notes should be easy to read and in order. 2 Use graphics if they will help to explain your plans. Make sure they are large and clear enough for your audience to read. 3 Tell the class about your event. Speak clearly.

Language Past participles
Parents have given us $100 so far.
The School Football League has written to me. It has invited us to play. Invited is formed from the root word invite . It is called the past participle . Regular past participles end in ‘ed’. Many past participles are irregular and have to be learnt. Written is the past participle of write .

CR Speaking and listening: Students can use Creole in their discussion, but should make notes in Standard English as they will use Standard English in their presentation. Advise students, when giving a presentation, to look at their audience and to use standard English. Encourage other students to listen politely and attentively. After their presentation, have students to complete Graphic organiser 2 on page 157. • Extension: Ask students to write in their journals about what good cause they support and why. • Example 1, question 5: Remind students that their parents can publicise their event using social media and the internet.
