They tell us who owns a thing. They go before a noun. These are our kites . That is their kite.

•  Exercise 3: Explain to students that ‘the books belonging to the boys’ has the same meaning as ‘the books of the boys’. • Plurals not ending in ‘s’ include words such as women, men, people, sheep, mice, geese. • Help students to see that neat handwriting will help them to communicate their ideas. Encourage them to do their best to be accurate and neat when presenting their work.
