When the noun is the object of the sentence we use an object pronoun. I tapped Gran on the shoulder. I tapped her on the shoulder.

5 Complete the sentences with one of the words in brackets. Example: My friend came with (us/we). è My friend came with us . 1 (She / Her) is a rap artist.

• Prepare for the exercise on object pronouns by working as a class, identifying the object of each sentence. Students then work independently to replace each object with a pronoun. CR Pronouns in Creole and Standard English are often used differently. Ask students how they might say some of these sentences in Creole and compare them with the Standard English version. DA Exercise 5: Give support to some students. Read out the sentence first with one pronoun then with the other. Discuss which is correct and why.
