The purpose of a text is the job it is supposed to do. For example, it may be to advertise, to entertain or to give instructions. The audience for a text is the person or persons who are going to read or hear it.

The audience of this schedule is adults who want to travel by air. Its purpose is to show them when they can fly between Antigua and Barbados. DA Students who have difficulty in reading charts and schedules can work in a mixed-ability pair. ICT  Demonstrate how to go online to find schedules for local transport. Project a schedule from the internet and ask students to find times and destinations.
