CWU Board of Trustees - July 2025

Central Washington University Board of Trustees July 25, 2025 ACTION – Approval of ASCWU Constitution Revisions

In the Spring Quarter of the 2024–2025 academic year, the Associated Students of Central Washington University (ASCWU) held a special election to amend the student government constitution. The amendment specifically addresses the composition of the ASCWU Academic Senate. The amendment proposes the following changes: • The three current "Senator at Large" positions will be reduced to two. • The third position will be redefined as a "Senator for the Douglas Honors College (DHC)." This change retains the total number of senators at 15 and introduces formal representation for the Douglas Honors College. The addition of this seat supports ongoing efforts to provide the DHC with direct representation in the Academic Senate. This initiative was prioritized by the outgoing Board of Directors and Senate as part of their commitment to inclusive student representation. The amendment was voted on and approved by the student body during the special election. According to the ASCWU Constitution, any constitutional amendments require ratification by the Board of Trustees to take effect. The Board of Trustees is asked to ratify the constitutional amendment passed by the ASCWU student body to change the composition of the Academic Senate, effective for the 2025–2026 academic year.
