RELIGION & THEOLOGY

Mr Jon Fox

T he Religion and Theology department embarked on an exciting expedition to Rome over the Michaelmas half term, touring the classical and religious sites of this ancient metropolis. Over four days and with the benefit of magnificent sunshine, 40 Year 9 boys had the opportunity to explore The Vatican City, including The Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, to creep through some of Rome’s best preserved Early Christian Catacombs and to visit The Forum, Colosseum, Pantheon and Spanish Steps. The scale and quality of Rome’s cultural, religious and architectural history did not fail to impress both staff and boys alike, and Sam Cohen, an Art scholar, captured the glory of the Pantheon in the picture reproduced here. Upon leaving one venue, a fellow globe- trotter, impressed by the Dulwich boys, remarked that they were ‘delighted by their naturalness, friendliness and all-round bright-eyed charm.
