THREE DULWICH BOARDERS REFLECT ON WHAT LIFE IN IVYHOLME AND BLEW HAS MEANT TO THEM.

I n January 2011, I took the entrance exam for Dulwich. Along with all the other applicants, I listened to the Master’s speech in the Lower Hall whilst enjoying some biscuits, and did the papers in the Great Hall. On my way out after I finished the entrance exam, I encountered the notorious full- colour blazer for the first time, and its very unique, astonishing look gave me an unforgettable shock. Deciding to study abroad was difficult: it was a decision that would change my whole life. But now I am here at my very last stage in the College, wearing my precious full-colour blazer, I can say without any slight doubt that I was right. I consider myself living a fantastic life, enjoying lots of different experiences, and enriching my life. Dulwich has certainly provided ample opportunities to stretch my potential, but I think it has offered me more than that. There are countless memorable things, but what I cherish the most is the relationships I built up in the college. I am surrounded by good friends who I know I can really rely on when I am struggling. With these jolly friends, my everyday life has been entertaining

and dynamic. Listening to Ambrose singing opera out loud in the middle of the night; Sam teaching me the English drinking culture and proudly presenting the ‘English bitter’; Arifin randomly shouting out the word ‘plasma’; Arifin’s surname being written down as ‘XXX’ in the boarding house photo because it is too long; cheering each other in the inter-boarding house competition; working together to organise a small gig for the end-of-year barbecue... All of these memories make me smile whenever I think of them. Dulwich gave me an opportunity and allowed me to take full advantage of studying in the UK. With the numerous activities, societies and events I have been to, and due to this ‘ecumenical’ community I have lived with, I have learned new things every day, every hour, every minute. I learned how to be more sociable, so that I can approach other people and be more approachable to other people. It has helped me to look back at my past and dream about my future. The College will continue to be an essential part of me that will shape and define my identity.
