BOYS & GIRLS of CLUB DANE COUNTY

Imagine a place where who you are, where you’re from or the circumstances that surround you don’t de- termine your access to experiences or oppor- tunities. Through your support, Boys & Girls Clubs are making that vision a reality — in your community and communities around the world. The Boys & Girls Clubs’ mis- sion is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as pro- ductive, caring, responsible citizens. Our vision is to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young per- son who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the fu- ture, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. Boys & Girls Clubs of Amer- ica had its beginnings in 1860 with three women in Hartford, Connecti- cut - Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin and Elizabeth Hammersley. Believ- ing that boys who roamed the streets “

should have a positive alternative, they orga- nized the first Club. With character devel- opment as the corner- stone of the experience, the Club focused on capturing boys inter- ests, improving their behavior and increas- ing their personal ex- pectations and goals. A
