Peu importe où l’on vit en Amérique du Nord, l’hiver peut s’avérer rude pour votre véhicule, même s’il a été rangé dans un endroit bien au sec. En effet, tout véhicule qui n’a pas été utilisé ou pire encore, qui a été conduit dans les endroits les plus rudes a vraiment besoin d’être préparé avec soin avant d’attaquer les routes cet été. Évidemment, toutes les opérations régulières d’entretien prévues par le constructeur doivent être respectées : vidange d’huile, inspection des pneus, inspection visuelle afin de vérifier si toutes les pièces sont présentes et s’il n’y a pas de lumière grillée, etc. Toutefois, les automobiles et les camionnettes qui ont dû subir un usage hivernal exigent encore plus d’attention. Certes, il faut jeter un coup d’œil au rouage, mais c’est surtout du côté du net- toyage et de la finition de la carrosserie qu’il faut prêter attention. Après l’hiver, il est fort probable que du sel, du sable et de la terre se cachent dans des endroits à peine visibles sous la voiture et derrière les ornementations. Par conséquent, le véhicule doit être minu- tieusement lavé pour éviter toute possibilité de corrosion. L’opération devrait débuter avec une visite — ou deux! — au lave-auto sans contact (avec jets d’eau mais sans bros- ses) afin d’enlever le sel, le sable et la terre qui pourraient rester. Une telle opération laissant quand même un mince film de saletés sur la carrosserie et quelques légers dépôts sous les ornements, un lavage à la main devient indispensable. Seul l’œil humain peut déceler cette saleté bien cachée et procurer au véhicule un entretien particu- lier qui lui permettra d’offrir encore quelques années de loyaux services.
