V W V . ? i A SURE DIVIDEND ON YOUR INVESTMENT 5 With the approach of the holiday season many Christians are desirous of expressing their love to their dear Savior for the many blessings in their lives by making a gift to some worthy Christian Work. One of the best ways of showing your love is to help the missionaries and the poor. The Bible stresses this Work more than any other and it promises a great dividend to those who participate in it. “And they that be tvise shall shine as the brightness o f the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars for ever and ever”— Daniel 12:3. “He that hath p ity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He repay him again”— Proverbs 19:17. The Russian Christian Relief Society has been carrying on this blessed Work for several years. Many souls have been saved from starvation and eternal destruction by our humble service and many more would be saved if there were funds. We are praying that God will move upon your hearts to give, pray and realize your privilege by giving to this glorious Work. RUSSIAN CHRISTIAN RELIEF SOCIETY Rev. possibly satisfy the human heart, for it is created with a capacity for God and eter nal verities. To those deceived by the allurements of worldly satisfaction, the prophet Isaiah cries out, in the name of the Lord: “Where fore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? . . . Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live” (55:2,3). Not only does he warn, but he continues by telling what is most important in our daily lives: seek the Lord, call upon Him, forsake the wicked way, and return unto the Lord—these are the essentials. Modern equivalents of these ancient though unchanging commands might be called Bible study, prayer, a separated life, and close communion with God. The one all-important requirement of life is that our souls be in a right rela tionship with the Lord Jesus Christ, that ¡3, that we accept His blood atonement as all-sufficient for our sin, and His res urrection as our victory, and that we acknowledge Him as Lord and Master. Close communion with our heavenly Father can only be maintained by constant prayer, regular study of God’s Word, and con tinual yieldedness to Christ and separation from worldly things. Isaiah tells in this passage of the wonderful pardoning love of our God, and of His readiness to for give when we go to Him in childlike sim plicity of faith. To seek and find the Lord is to come into fellowship with Him whose ways are higher than our ways, as the heavens are higher than the earth. Without Christ, daily life is hollow and meaningless; they grope in darkness who do not know Him as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It is no wonder that Paul exclaimed of this One, “That I may know him” and “O the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” Having found Him, we have entered upon the best of human experience which shall be consum mated when we see Him and are changed into His likeness. Oh, that we might rec ognize and follow Him as the One Essen tial in daily living! Are you willing to be a highway over which Jesus Christ shall come to your town and into the lives of your friends and neighbors? Right of way costs some thing. When President Garfield was shot, he was taken to an isolated house where he could have absolute quiet and rest in his fight for life, and a special railway was constructed to facilitate the bringing of doctors, nurses, and loved ones to his bedside. The engineers laid out the line to cross a farmer’s front yard, but he refused to grant the right of way until they ex plained to him that it was for the Presi dent, when he exclaimed, “That is differ ent. Why, if that railroad is for the President, you can run it right through my house.” Are you willing to give Christ right of way across your front yard? It may run right through some of your plans, or social engagements, or business appoint- Helps for the Leader I. W ho H as F irst P lace ?
