Sunken Escapes
Just because the days are cooling off doesn’t mean we are done spotlighting some of the many unique places to eat, play, shop, and stay in the Maritimes, for readers looking to squeeze every bit of time out of what we have left in 2025. In this issue, Paul Clark, owner of Inglis Jewellers, explains how he and the team are getting ready for a major milestone for this homegrown Canadian company from Truro, Nova Scotia. Paul also explains how they continue to shine after 35 remarkable years of successfully focusing on the brilliance and timeless sparkle of Canadian products, giving back to the community, and providing exceptional service that has made customers become family over the last 3 decades. You can’t celebrate a milestone without a few socialbles, which has us heading to Saint John’s Uptown to chat with the team from the Saint John Beer Fest. As the event goes into its second year, since being revamped, we learn why many Maritime craft beer and spirit enthusiasts will be making their way to the Harbour City for two afternoons of East Coast hospitality and sampling some of the best the New Brunswick brewing and distilling industries have to offer. While in New Brunswick, we visited with Jeremy McCabe, Co-Owner, and Carlie Cormier, Marketing Manager, of the Black Rapids Retreat to discuss how this very popular destination for salmon fishing on the Miramichi River, which began as an outfitter, offering equipment and supplies for outdoor enthusiasts, has now transformed into a riverside oasis with rustic charms and modern ammediaties offering a peaceful, quiet setting for retreat guests on the North Shore of the Miramichi River in Blackville, that can be enjoyed all of year-round. They say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” but when we sat down with Danielle Mahood, a talented multidisciplinary artist based in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, who has built a solid reputation for turning creative challenges into something uniquely her own, we understand that meaning better now. In our conversation, Danielle explains how she approaches every project with a blend of skill, imagination, heart, and an eye for detail, which has resulted in some amazing one-of-a-kind artworks. Fresh off an electrifying performance at the Sauble Beach Party and a recent move to Nashville, Tennessee, we were excited for the opportunity to connect with Elyse Saunders, an up-and-coming Canadian artist from Peterborough, Ontario, who is quickly making her mark on the country music scene. Elyse’s powerful vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and undeniable stage presence have her Living Rent Free in the minds of country music fans on both sides of the border as she sets herself apart in a growing wave of amazing new country talent. My team and I want to thank everyone who made this issue possible. We look forward to sharing more stories about growing industries, successful businesses, brands, events, and the entrepreneurs making it all happen.
