Hokes Bluff's William Wellingham (#42) returns a fumble recovery during AHSAA football action against rival Southside on Thursday, August 26, 2021. The play helped save a touchdown in the first quarter. However, that was not enough to stop the visiting Panthers, as Southside rolled to a 31-0 win. The victory was the first of the season under new coach Miles Holcomb. Southside opened the year with a 14-6 loss to Lincoln. The Hokes Bluff Eagles fell to 0-1. The Eagles will be attempting to pick up their first win of the season in Class 3A Region 5 action at Pleasant Valley on Sept. 3. Southside is set to take on Pell City in Class 6A Region 7 action. Valley Head's Eian Bain (#24) finds running room during the first half of the Tigers game against Section on Friday, August 27. The Tigers rallied from a 20-0 deficit with two second quarter touchdowns to make it a 20-14 game at halftime. However, the visiting Lions controlled the second half to win the game 34-14. With the win, Section improved to 2-0, while Valley Head fell to 0-2 this season. The Tigers will be trying to find the win column when they visit Ceder Bluff for a Class 1A Region 7 matchup on Sept 3. Section opens up Class 2A Region 7 action at Tanner. Photo by Brandon K. The Albertville Aggies opened the 2021 football season with a 35-0 loss against Marshall County rival Arab on August 19. The Aggies were open in week 1 and are set to kickoff their 2021 home season against Sparkman on Sept. 3. The game is the first home game under new head coach Chip English and it's the Aggies first game this season in Class 7A Region 4.
