It’s every young hockey player’s dream to make it to the pros with the NHL as the ultimate goal. Two young Russian students living and studying in Rockland are nowon the next rung of the ladder tomaking that dream a reality. Pavel Gogolev, 16, and Semen Der-Ar- guchintsev, 15, two alumni at the Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIHA) in Rockland, received some welcome and ex- citing news as part of their spring semester. The Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hoc- key League (OHL) have picked them up as the eighth and 27th choices in this year’s OHL draft. “This is a dreamcome true for me,” stated Gogolev in a CIHA press release. “This is what I worked so hard for and is why I came to the academy. I know I have a lot more work to do before rookie camp, and know that coach Guy (Girouard) and the others will get me ready.” Gogolev, originally fromMoscow, joined the CIHA student body last year to further develop his hockey skills. goals last season with 38 goals and added 30 assists for a total of 68 points over 46 games. His classmate, Der-Arguchintsev, turns 16 this September. Also a Moscow native, he led the HEO in points with a total of 70 over 46 by the end of the season. “I want to play in the OHL because it’s the best junior league in the world,” stated Der- Arguchintsev, “and playing with and against the best players will only make me better.”
