“We actually made more money this year with doing that one less day, which is pretty good. There were a few people asking for the world’s hottest but we didn’t have it ready for that time, but it actually made me think that perhaps next year we would release an Agfest specific, have an Agfest release for that event. I wasn’t there the year before but Tom was, and there were plenty of people who recognised him and were talking about the world’s hottest and obviously whiskey as well, they’re massive fans of whiskey. Talking about that stuff with the patrons, there was definitely recognition for our brand, so that’s very good.” Chaplin said events such as Agfest were perfect for 7k Distillery, which sources as many of its ingredients and materials as possible locally and has ties with the agricultural sector across the state. “A few of our products come from farming and agricultural backgrounds, such as our Raspberry Gin, which is

made out of the Westerway Raspberry Farm.

“We find a fair few of our customers are actually in the agricultural area, so it’s nice to show off our products which are loved by many.” Another feature of this year’s event in the THA pavilion was Agfest’s Networking Night for the 550 exhibitors and supporters, which made its return following a three-year hiatus. More than 100 people attended at the completion of the first day on Thursday, with the evening including a presentation by Rural Alive & Well and Rural Youth Tasmania, along with the announcement of a new RAW youth engagement position. Site Awards for Agfest 2023 event were also presented to the well-deserving exhibitors on the night, with glasses raised to celebrate their success.
