Membership and Corporate Update
As we approach the mid-year and the colder months, we know our members are preparing for a downturn in trade especially regionally. We have seen our occupancy numbers decrease for the months of April and May, (please contact us if you would like to contribute to our report) however we are hopeful due to the great success of Dark Mofo that visitors are experiencing the great hospitality our state has to offer. Our membership team has been travelling statewide to assist members with a range of matters such as nominations for our awards, Licence applications/ renewals, planning permits, introductions to suppliers and networking events. We thank all our members who nominated for our awards this year, leading to our highest nomination count in our history. Good luck to you all and we look forward to celebrating with you later in the year. Our new website is due to be launched towards the end of the year as well as a brand-new corporate supplier guide featuring all our partners with some exclusive offers. We also welcome our new THA Members: Solo Pasta and Pizza, Sixty-Six Boutique Apartments, Bush Inn – New Norfolk, The Little Poet, Basin Café, Gorge Restaurant, Matson Catering -Tram Shed, Manky Sally’s, Asian Gourmet on Pier, Muddy Boots Café, Banjo’s New Norfolk, Banjo’s Rosny, The Branch, Farzi Café, Annapurna, Lost Captain, Taco’s Mexican Restaurant, Syra, Mystate Bank Arena, Mumma Buzz Café, Becker Minty, Eden Whisky. Last month we ran our first Pubs Pots and Profits events in Hobart and Launceston, we saw a great turnout with 80 people attending across the two days. We would like to thank Carlton United Breweries and Coca Cola for their great support.
Due to the great success, we are hoping to run similar events in the future – not only focusing on our hotel/ pub members but also tailored events for restaurants and cafés. Please keep an eye out on our newsletter and social media for upcoming events. Our corporate partners play a significant role in supporting our members and the hospitality Industry, we really value their contribution to the industry and support for the THA. In the last few weeks, we have been fortunate enough to be invited by our partners Blue Line Laundry and Tassal to visit their operations in Hobart. Learning about Blue Line Laundry’s commitment to their community and developing pathways for their staff by providing a nurturing and caring workplace was incredible to see. Seeing the size of their washing machines and dryers will put your household one to shame! A huge operation and logistics are involved to ensure our hotels and accommodation members receive all their products in time. We recommend any of our members that wish to see the great work that Blue Line do, please book a tour https://www.blueline-laundry.com/book-a-tour We were also fortunate enough to be invited by Tassal to tour their Nubeena site, blessed by a beautiful day in June of 16 degrees and calm conditions.
It was educational to learn about their commitment to the environment and sustainable farming. The site in Nubeena employs around 50 full time staff which are made of local workers which is significant for a regional town. We have plans to work closely with Tassal in the coming months to educate our hospitality industry on the process the seafood goes through before arriving at their restaurant.
If you would like to speak to any of our membership team please don’t hesitate to call us on 6220 7300.
