Fall Tree Care, Trimming, and Pruning — Oh My! And Don’t Forget Halloween!

top of the fridge because they will get their stools out to peek around the pantry and ask for everything they can get their hands on. It’s nice keeping all the goods on top of the fridge because that way, I can poach off some Snickers, Baby Ruths, or Kit Kats (don’t tell my kids). In fact, we still have candy left over from last year! Besides Halloween, fall offers a great time to get on top of marketing your business — you can never remind people enough of who you are and what you do! Do you have your messaging in place for tree trimming, pruning, and the different services that you offer in the fall and winter? It’s a great time to send those messages out to your client base, as the leaves are starting to turn the colors of fall and most businesses are sure to soon slow down a little bit. If you have an email database, now is the time to send out an email offering recommendations for fall tree care. You can even toy with the idea of offering a fall discount of 10%–15% off if they get their services done during winter. It is no secret that our businesses slow down during the fall and winter months. Your clients will receive your promotions in the fall, and that can assist in generating some business for the cold and lonely winter. A monthly email or blog post on your website is also another way to engage your clients, remind them about your services, and offer fall trimming and pruning tips and suggestions. Running ads specific to your business throughout these upcoming slower months can aid in keeping your business busy until spring returns!

Fall is here and Halloween is near — my kids could not be more excited! Last year, my 5-year-old son was Buzz Lightyear and my 3-year-old daughter was Snow White. I absolutely adore watching them have so much fun with it. This year’s costumes are still undecided, but I’m sure it will be a huge, fun production! Every Halloween, my children are thrilled to put on their costumes, and we all head out before dark. They tote around their pumpkin trick-or-treating buckets, which they never fail to fill up with all kinds of candy before dark. Sometimes, we get together with neighborhood friends, and we all go together — it adds to the fun! The adults dress up to hand out candy, and it’s all the more exciting. We go house to house, and my daughter and son love showing off their costumes to anyone and everyone. After we get back home, I like to check over all of the candy and make sure it is all safe; you can never be too careful!

As I’m sure you can guess, my kids get most excited about having endless amounts of candy in the house. We store it on

Employee churn is an expensive cost, and unless you equip your new employees with the right tools — and continue to train your team — you are going to keep incurring this cost. The Deadliest Surgery in History

By the ‘Fastest Knife in the West End’

If you needed surgery in the early 1800s, it could be a death sentence. Before anesthesia, patients were awake and lucid the entire time. One of this era’s greatest surgeons, Dr. Robert Liston, was named the “fastest knife in the West End” because he was known for performing surgeries very quickly. One fateful day, Dr. Liston cut through his patient’s broken, infected leg with incredible speed — so incredible that he didn’t realize he had cut off two of his assistant’s fingers, too. The patient and assistant later died of gangrene. But theirs were not the only deaths that day. In those days, people found amputations morbidly entertaining. When Dr. Liston grabbed one of his knives, he whipped it too closely to one spectator, slicing through his coat. While he didn’t actually break the man’s skin, the spectator thought he’d been stabbed and died of shock.

Now, that doesn’t make extroverts bad at sales. Instead, you can harness the power of the introvert and spread the wealth among your sales team by doing the following: 1. Establish Trust: Introverts have a powerful ability to connect one-on-one with whoever they are speaking to. They thrive on personal conversations, wherein they can build a rapport with one or two other people rather than a group. This trait is necessary for salespeople to acquire, as it makes prospects feel safe and heard. 2. Ask Questions: A long spiel about a product or service is overwhelming, especially when the person providing it feels like a total stranger. However, a surprising study by the Harvard Business Review (HBR) disputes this belief.

The HBR reports that being an extrovert had no impact on a salesperson’s ability to sell; in fact, some of the negative qualities of being an extrovert, such as bravado and overt friendliness, are more likely to alienate customers. On the flip side, humility and modesty were two traits possessed by those who were 90% better than other sales people in their company. Interestingly, these traits often accompany an introverted personality. The reason, as Entrepreneur.com reports, is actually fairly simple. Being effective at sales does not require a profound skill for speaking or storytelling. Instead, salespeople need to be great listeners . This attention to detail and attentiveness to their subject is often found in introverts.
