A NEW CHAPTER: Embracing Innovation Together
Dear Franklin Building Supply Team,
we offer. Our commitment to excellence goes beyond any single event; it is ingrained in the very fabric of our company.
I trust this message finds you well and energized for the exciting journey that lies ahead in 2024. As we stand on the threshold of a new year, I am thrilled to share some significant news and insights with all of you. For those who may not know me, I am Dan Otero, and it has been my honor to be a part of the Franklin Building Supply family for an incredible 30 years. My journey with the company has primarily been in a sales capacity, and today, I am excited to announce a new chapter in my career as the Marketing Director. In the spirit of embracing growth and innovation, I wanted to highlight an upcoming event that holds immense importance for our industry — the International Builder Show in Las Vegas. A handful of us, myself included, will have the privilege of representing Franklin Building Supply at this noteworthy event. It’s not just an opportunity for personal and professional growth; it’s a chance for us to reinforce our commitment to staying ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. The International Builder Show is a beacon of innovation, a space where ideas collide and the latest trends take center stage. More than 70,000 people from over 100 countries will converge, creating a global melting pot of insights and opportunities. While this event is a valuable opportunity, let me be clear — it’s just one piece of the puzzle in the vast array of resources
For more than four decades, Franklin Building Supply has been synonymous

Our team is our heartbeat — the driving force behind our success. As we embark on this new journey, we are placing a renewed emphasis on growth and development. We are not just colleagues; we are a team committed to supporting each other. Investing in our collective knowledge and skills is pivotal to ensuring our continued success. In the coming months, you can expect to see initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of innovation and learning within our organization. We want each of you to feel empowered, equipped with the latest industry insights, and ready to take on new challenges. Our goal is to not only meet but exceed expectations, making Franklin Building Supply a workplace where everyone thrives. Safe From: Tony Williams, Pocatello Yard To: Daniel Midby and Bellevue Team “Shoutout to Daniel Midby and his team

in Bellevue for finding a new way to spread sand. They bought a sander that was like ours and had a mount made to carry it on a forklift. So, I borrowed the idea, and it works wonderfully.”
Wow From: Danny Green, Pocatello Account Coordinator To: Tristen McNeil, Pocatello Estimator
“Recently, we had a wonderful end-of-year holiday event. We could spend time with our coworkers and their families to enjoy socializing and good food and share in the spirit of the season. Tristen McNeil did a great job organizing and orchestrating the event with the help of several other folks assisting with serving and setting up. Thanks, and a big WOW to Tristen. Her effort was exceptional!”

“I want to give a shoutout to Chris Bazzle and the Boise door shop shipping crew. I had a customer change up their header material last minute on Dec. 21 with a trim crew on site. I was going to grab the material, but my pickup was at Commercial Tire getting an alignment and new shocks. With us closing at noon on the 22nd for Christmas, they jumped on it and made the delivery, keeping the customer on schedule. Thanks to all of you!”

LOCATION HIGHLIGHT: TVID INTERIOR
The creation of the Treasure Valley Installed Division has been a key part of Franklin fulfilling its 2026 vision. The demand for a turnkey experience across a large range of products, from framing to flooring, has required us to invest in and excel at both product supply and installation for our customers. When it comes to interior products such as cabinets, flooring, and countertops, not only providing the material but also helping homeowners select the
interior finishes of their homes is a very complicated and detailed process. In my few months as the General Manager of Design Innovations, I have seen firsthand how hard everyone at TVID Interiors strives for excellence in everything they do. Our employee-owners care deeply about the customer experience from the beginning of the design process to the warranty period after the product is installed and the homeowners have moved in. The amount of hard work and perseverance this team has gone through since the creation of TVID is extremely impressive, and I am excited about everything we are doing in 2024 and beyond to make TVID one of Franklin Building Supply’s top-performing divisions. In 2023, during TVID’s first year of existence as an independent department at FBS, the team focused heavily on building out a structure that would support the customer experience and clearly define internal roles. It
was a tough year, and the hard work the team members and managers put in is admirable. The analogy I heard that best describes what TVID went through in 2023 was “rebuilding a ship as it sailed through the ocean.” Everyone at TVID Interior understands what that feels like now, but we all feel as though we are now ready to increase our speed and make some real strides in 2024. The focus of TVID is not short-term gain. While installed contracting is not Franklin Building Supply’s traditional comfort zone, it is our goal to build a sustainable model for profitability. The team at DI and the rest of TVID Interiors are working hard every day to become better at what we do to help Franklin Building Supply fulfill its long-term vision for success.

What’s the Point? Well, Read On The Days Are Cold and Long, and Work Is Slow …
As we navigate through the slower months in the construction industry, the pace can be frustrating. Fortunately, as Employee Owners, we can take advantage of the breathing room to invest in our futures! Whether you’re in sales, operations, administration, or another role, there are opportunities to upgrade your skills for the coming season! Cross-Training Opportunities Consider exploring cross-training opportunities within the company. Embrace the chance to learn new skills or deepen your understanding of different departments. This not only enhances your versatility but also fosters a more collaborative work environment. Customer Engagement Initiatives For those in sales and customer-facing roles, focus on strengthening relationships with existing clients. Reach out to them, understand their needs, and provide
personalized assistance. Building strong connections during the slow season can lead to increased business when demand picks up. Optimizing Operations Efficiency Operations and fabrication teams can use the slow season to fine-tune processes and identify areas for improvement. Evaluate equipment, streamline workflows, and implement efficiency measures that will pay off when demand rises again. Professional Development Invest in your professional development. Attend workshops, webinars, or training sessions related to your field. This proactive approach not only bolsters your skill set but also positions you as an asset to the team. Collaborative Projects In McCall, our door shop crew was often volunteered for improvement projects in the
store. Lately, we’ve been able to integrate team members from admin, sales, and the warehouse in repairing sheetrock, doors, painting, and ventilation. We’ve even helped in the yard with some of their projects! Community Involvement Allow yourself some time to engage with the local community. Participate in community events, volunteer initiatives, or sponsorships. Strengthening our ties with the community not only reflects positively on our company but also creates potential business opportunities. While some of this work may feel different, this is how we can live out our 2026 Vision Guide principle and be a learning and problem-solving organization. Investing in yourself and FBS go hand in hand.

In the Spotlight
At Franklin Building Supply, we deeply value each team member, recognizing their dedication is the cornerstone of our success. Ashley Wheeler, an Inside Sales team member at the McCall location, is coming up on her one-year anniversary with us. While it certainly feels like much longer, we are thrilled she chose to call Franklin Building Supply home! “My job is to make sure customer needs are met,” she tells us. “Whether it’s helping in- store with special orders or helping in the yard, I work to bridge the gap to make sure our customers get what they need with the best service possible.” Ashley is fun and energetic, making all our jobs fun. She is quick to mention that her favorite part of her job is building relationships with other team members and customers. “Everyone is always willing to help or teach me when needed, and our customers at McCall are some of the best around,” she notes. Outside work, Ashley loves cooking and baking for friends and family and enjoys reading, hunting, and fishing. She takes great pride in giving her kids the best life possible. “Everything I do is for them,” she says with a smile. Ashley, thank you for making Franklin Building Supply a welcoming place to work and turn to for all building and construction needs! You are a gem!
