Welcome to the twelth annual Namken Red Angus Production Sale! What a roller coaster of a year it has been. Winter was brutally cold with a lot of snow. Summer somehow became the opposite with lots of heat and very little rain. Thankfully towards the end we caught some timely rains just in time to save pastures and fill crops. Fall proved to be extremely mild, which worked great for fall grazing. This winter has been the polar opposite with very little snow so far and fairly mild temperatures other than a few weeks of extreme cold temps in January. This adverse environment has shown exactly why it’s so important to be choosing genetics that provide balanced cattle. First and foremost, the cow has to be fertile and must exhibit maternal ability. Second, she needs to wean a calf at a respectable weaning weight without creep feed on grass. We are also in the commercial cattle business and every calf that doesn’t make the bull sale or female that doesn’t make the replacement pen is fattened and sold as a fat animal. With that being said, the animal has to be able to hang a respectable carcass weight when finished. Whether you sell your animals across the scale or hang them on the rail, the base of this is always pounds. For this reason our focus has always been blending maternal and growth. I believe this offering exhibits these traits. Two years ago, we selected three new herd sires from three reputable breeders in Canada with similar goals to ours. These sires have all lived up to their expectations and I believe the animals in this offering will further your herd in the same direction as ours. With good cattle prices and low cow numbers, the future looks bright for the cattle industry. We would like to thank everyone that has shown interest in our program. Your continued support of our program over the years has allowed us to raise our kids with cattle. We would love to see you February 25, 2024. If you cannot attend the sale, bidding is available on DVAuction. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. If you are ever in the area, we’d love for you to stop in for a tour anytime. We hope to see you on the 25th! Sincerely, Jared & Lacey Namken Paisley, Cooper & Presley
