Where Cornwall’s RAILWAY STORIES STILL LIVE
Chris first joined Bodmin Railway as a volunteer in 2012. When he first arrived, there were still people involved who had worked on the railway back in the 1960s, sharing stories and knowledge that still carry through today. That connection to the past remains a huge part of the experience for visitors. Beyond the steam journeys themselves, it is often the insights shared by the passionate and knowledgeable volunteers that people remember most. part of Cornwall’s railway history alive. Keeping the railway running is a constant task, with decades-old equipment continually adapted to meet modern standards and safety requirements. This year also marks 40 years since Bodmin Railway reopened to the public, with a new steam engine due to appear over the summer as part of the ongoing celebrations. ….. Another chapter in the railway’s long story begins.
