The best places to eat in Cornwall never feel overly formal or uncomfortable. The best ones are those that make you feel comfortable almost immediately.
Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen was probably the first Michelin starred restaurant we visited in Cornwall and it completely changed what I expected fine dining to feel like. You can sit watching the food being prepared right in front of you, but the atmosphere still feels warm and friendly rather than stiff or serious.
The people behind these places genuinely care about the experience as much as the food itself.
We are also huge fans of Ugly Butterfly. We first visited when it was in Carbis Bay and enjoyed it so much we went back twice in the same weekend. It has now moved to Newquay overlooking Fistral and somehow the setting looks even more special.
Cornwall does incredible food really well while maintaining the relaxed atmosphere.
