Carly Ended Up Horse Riding on a Beach

DAYS OUT

Written By: Carly Mitchell Edited By A. Williams

The first time I saw Perranporth properly was walking the coast path from Holywell and I genuinely stopped in my tracks for a second. I knew the beach was supposed to be nice, but I was not prepared for how huge it actually was. The sand just seemed to go on forever. As I’ve said before, coming from Scotland, I thought I was fairly hard to impress when it came to scenery, but Cornwall has definitely proved me wrong a few times. I went back again not long after that first time, just to properly walk along the beach itself and it quickly became one of my favourite places. Even when it is busy, it never really feels crowded because there is so much space. It is one of the few beaches where I can happily walk for ages with the dogs without noticing the time disappearing. They usually want to go back before I do. One of my favourite memories there was watching horses galloping along the shoreline one evening. It genuinely looked like something out of a film and I remember thinking straight away that I wanted to try it myself one day. Earlier this year I finally did. Despite being absolutely terrified at first, within about ten minutes I was completely loving it. Riding along the beach with the waves beside you is one of those experiences that is difficult to explain properly unless you have done it yourself.

And now I am completely obsessed with horse riding too, which I honestly did not see coming at all.
