Venture Plank : Case Study

Mappin & Webb

With over 245 years’ experience in the world of silver and fine jewellery, Mappin & Webb is an internationally recognised company which is synonymous with expert craftsmanship, excellence and all things truly British. For the new showroom in Davy Gate, York, Mappin & Webb worked with architects Mark Pinney Associates to unveil the brand’s new contemporary visual identity for the first time with an open plan sales area, designated watch and jewellery areas and two private VIP areas – as well as a bar. The brief was to create a new concept that was both sophisticated and luxurious, to highlight Mappin & Webb’s iconic collection of watches and jewellery. To complement the neutral colour palette, elegant lighting, flowing silhouettes and high-quality natural finishes, Havwoods’ Amazon Character 260mm 1-Strip flooring from the Venture Plank collection was specified for the project. The naturally warm undertones of the planks work perfectly with the soft curves of the bespoke, frameless glass display tanks and mirrored finishes, helping to reflect light into the space. The way the planks are laid helps to create a natural walkway, guiding customers through the showroom, which creates natural zones and space, without compromising on the open-plan design.

An engineered board made of European Oak, the planks are perfectly designed to suit commercial spaces with heavy footfall thanks to their durability, low maintenance and long lifespan.
